Newcastle agree to sign Anthony Gordon from Everton for initial 40m fee
Newcastle United have agreed to sign Anthony Gordon from Everton for an initial £40million fee.
Gordon was required to submit a transfer request for the deal to be agreed and he is now expected to join Eddie Howe’s side.
The 21-year-old missed three days of training this week, with the first being planned by Everton, but returned to the club’s Finch Farm training base on Friday morning.

Newcastle will pay the £40million fee as a single payment to Everton.
Representatives from Newcastle and Everton met in London on Tuesday before Newcastle’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Southampton, but the two clubs were far apart on their valuation of Gordon.
Gordon will join a side in third place in the Premier League. His current team are 19th, having not won a competitive game since October 22.
The attacker broke through at Everton after spending five years in their academy. He made his Premier League debut in 2020 before spending five months on loan at Preston North End in 2021.
He played a key role in keeping Everton up last season, making 40 appearances in all competitions. However, he has struggled for form this campaign.
Frank Lampard, who was sacked as Everton manager on Monday, had only started Gordon in one of Everton’s last eight matches and the winger failed to make it off the bench in the 2-0 defeat by West Ham United on Saturday.
Newcastle manager Howe is also interested in recruiting a No 6 and young right-back. Those deals, though, will likely take place in the summer, when Newcastle prefer to do business, with any January transfers likely to impact future spending.
Newcastle face Southampton in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Tuesday evening — their first semi-final in 18 years.They lead 1-0 after the first leg.
Everton do not play until February 4 when they host Arsenal in the Premier League.
